DISESTABLISHMENT

Depriving a given religion of its right, privileges, or position as the established religion in a certain country. Applied especially to the disestablishment of the Anglican Church, which received the support through taxation of British subjects regardless of creed. The process of disestablishment is still going on in the British Commonwealth of Nations.
