CHARTERHOUSE
The English version of the French maison chartreuse, a Carthusian religious house. A famous English school also has the same name, being originally build on the site of the London Charterhouse, whose last prior was martyred with his fifteen monks, 1535-40, under Henry VIII (1491-1547).
