CHAPTER, MONASTIC
The periodic meeting of the members of a monastic community. At this meeting, there is customarily the reading of the day's martyrology, self-accusation of external faults against the rule, the imposition by the superior of appropriate penances, and the discussion of important matters affecting the life and discipline of the community.
