martin on moral evil
By Diogenes (articles ) | January 10, 2009 11:05 AM
In the course of a television interview, Dublin's Archbishop Diarmuid Martin is given a splendid chance to witness to the integrity and truth of Catholic teaching. So here's the Successor of the Apostles in action:
Interviewer: You can say yes or no to my question: do you think that people -- homosexual people -- who engage in homosexual sexual relations are engaged in an intrinsic moral evil?
Archbishop: I would not make a judgment, again, on ... on ... on ... on ... on individual people. I have no idea.
This is the man destined, rumor tells us, for a Roman dicasterial appointment. I suppose the reasoning in his favor runs that, while Martin may be fuzzy on the Faith, his powder-blue clerical shirts will make a positive impression on persons uncomfortable with a "one size fits all" morality -- an important fashion statement. The video link is found here; the exchange takes place about 20:30 into the action.
God help us all.
