Off the Record

amazing coincidence

Here is the web site for the Planned Parenthood clinic in Worcester, Massachusetts. Make a note of the phone number for local calls: (508) 854-3300.

Now here is the web site for student health services at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Notice the number recommended to students who are concerned about sexually transmitted diseases: 508-854-3300. Haven't we seen that number somewhere else?

No, Holy Cross doesn't refer students to Planned Parenthood for abortions. Holy Cross refers students to Planned Parenthood for STD tests. But Holy Cross does refer students to Planned Parenthood.

So tonight, when Planned Parenthood representatives participate in a panel at Holy Cross on teen pregnancy, it won't be the first point of contact. They're already working together.

Okay, it's two days after the big day. I guess Bishop M. hasn't made that call yet. His spokesman said this incident will be one matter that will be considered if the Bishop ever reviews the Catholic status of Holy Cross. Flagrant rebellion is met with - a dial tone. Dial B for bluster.

Ah, but the important phone number is the one to the office of the president of Holy Cross. That's the one I'm hoping Bishop McManus is dialing tonight, with the news that Holy Cross will no longer be designated as a "Catholic" college. Today's the day the bishop referred to when he said if Holy Cross allowed that conference to go on, it would no longer be Catholic. Start dialing, Your Excellency.

And an even more amazing coincidence, is that just today the Globe reports that the State Senate, with the approval of the governor, have voted to expand the Buffer Zone in front of Planned Parenthood in Boston to 35 feet, and with the stipulation that no Anti-Abortion "protestors" will be allowed within that radius. Just a coincidence, I'm sure. By doing that, they think they will get rid of us, but then, they don't really know Whose side we are on.
