comprehensive wounded healthcare

Harry Forbes, identified as the "director of the Office for Film & Broadcasting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops," plugs a film to air soon on PBS concerning a Thinking Catholic. This from The Tidings of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles:
"Journey of the Heart: The Life of Henri Nouwen" is a comprehensive portrait of the Dutch-born priest and author of more than 40 books who is described in narrator Susan Sarandon's opening remarks as "one of the most beloved and important spiritual thinkers of the 20th century." (It is said here that Father Nouwen's "The Return of the Prodigal Son" is the favorite book of Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.)
Why am I not surprised?

Convert1994, if you don't think the USCCB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party, you havn't been paying attention.

I would think the USCCB is not an adjunct of any political party -- which is exactly as it should be.

What was it that George Weigel said about him in The Courage to Be Catholic? I gave my copy away.

The USCCB is an adjunct of the Democrat Party. Do you think some day they may actually get really active in the fight on abortion. They are MIA!

I think you're thinking of this: http://www.cwnews.com/offtherecord/offtherecord.cfm?task=singledisplay&recnum=3908 Uncle Di: are you "not surprised" that it's Clinton's favorite, or that Forbes knows what Clinton's favorite book is? NEITHER ONE surprises me! The USCCB staff, drawn as it is from Washington DC (the most staunch Democratic stronghold in the US outside my own Massachusetts) is predictably blue-biased and pro- all their special interests. It's a Brokeback episcopal conference!

There was a written commentary after Fr. N's death that the problems was that he seemed to be one of those figures always searching never finding, always journeying never arriving. Perhaps someone remembers where that appeared. I think it's a propos.
