Cardinal Roger Mahony has been in the forefront of ensuring the safety of parishes and parish schools through the establishment of the Office of Safeguard the Children and the adoption of rigorous archdiocesan policies.

Cardinal Roger Mahony in the forefront? Sez who?

Well, Cardinal Roger Mahony (with the gracious assistance of your financial contribution, of course):

This weekly series of feature stories, commentary and analysis is compiled and edited by an advisory group to the Media Relations Office of the Archdiocese, through which the articles are distributed. The series --- which began in The Tidings on Nov. 18 --- is designed to offer the perspective of the local church relative to the clergy sexual abuse situation.

"Designed to offer the perspective of the local Church..." Oh, I get it. It's your opinion too.

"Cardinal Roger Mahony has been in the forefront of ensuring the safety of parishes and parish schools through the establishment of the Office of Safeguard the Children and the adoption of rigorous archdiocesan policies." Speech without grounding in reality is no more meaningful than the unwitting passage of intestinal gas.

It ain't much better down here in Orange County under Roger's boy Todd Brown -- who assures us that now that the hundred mil has been paid (off) to the abused kids, we can now "journey towards a new beginning". And his first priority as our Shepard remains the same as he announced his first day in office -- "we are a gay friendly diocese". But, his excellency must be a miracle maker because he pulled a hundred mil out of nowhere -- we being told it did not come from the basket.

Thanks for the prayers,Meg. One of the unmentioned effects of rogerhood is that the priests follow along and get sucked in and so do the laity. So after a while, I feel like the man saying the whole world is crazy but I am sane. Praise God, we found a solid Catholic parish, staffed by a faithful religious community, who with fervor avoid the rogerworld anticatechesis system. The Faith is being sucked out of the laity here. It is a sad thing to watch. Guard your Faith! Nourish it!

Once again I thank the sweet Lord above I do not live in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, or surely I would have torn most of my hair out long ago. I offer up prayers for my brothers there -- and the Cardinal, too.
