Priest on the run

One of our stories today is about an Ecuadorian priest who has been suspended from ministry after he skipped town to avoid a corruption investigation. Go ahead and read the whole story before continuing.
Now ask yourself what would have happened if the situation had involved an American priest in an American diocese. What would the typical American bishop's reaction have been? Considering their track record on the Scandal, I suspect Father Flores might have been tranferred to the diocese's accounting office. Or perhaps the clerical ethics board, if such a thing existed.
