A survey of more than 3,000 Los Angeles area pastoral leaders and Synod delegates shows that 68 percent rated Los Angeles archbishop Cardinal Roger Mahony's ministry as "good" or "excellent," according to the lead story in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles's newspaper. Cardinal Mahony worked directly with the contractors to develop the evaluation questionnaire.

We're on the brink of Eternity, all of us, including ArchBishop Mahoney. One second we're here on Earth, the next moment we're before our Lord. So let's not worry about the latest poll............................................

I'm shocked and awed by the good Cardinal's display of humility. Who would've thunk it - write your own questions about what good a job you are doing and send it out to those who work for you! No kidding.......could you get any more humble than that?

The unorthodox sheep of the unorthodox Cardinal Mahony probably like the way he claps for them after they do a "liturgical dance" before the altar.

Pastors are very important. Important pastors are even more so. If the parish priest is popular and a heretic, who can be surprised when he leads his flock into error? When the cardinal archbishop is popular and a ..., who can be surprised when he leads his flock into ...? I dare say, in the cosmic order, "nice guys finish last." Popularity in a world gone mad is a curse. Jesus was hated by the world because he challenged it and refused to go along with it. Act before it is too late.
