Off the Record

taking sides

"This is really the last vestige of evil left in our society."

That's Anglican bishop Martin Reynolds speaking about -- wait for it -- anti-homosexual convictions manifested by opposition to gay bishops and same sex marriage. Dr. Reynolds, coincidentally identified as gay in the Telegraph article in which he is quoted, also has harsh words for his brother bishop, Peter Jensen of Sydney, whom he likens to Adolf Hitler. Jensen believes God does not countenance homosexual intercourse.

Vestige is derived from the Latin word for footprint. From there, I suppose, boots make footprints. Next, jackboots are worn by Nazis. Anti-sodomism and Anti-semitism are close phonetically, hence the linkage. Eloquentia perfecta

“Therefore a man leaves his father an his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh” “male and female he created them” “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable” “In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” I wonder what God does he mean?"

It's nice to know, isn't it, that once we rid our society of "homophobia," the "last vestige of evil" will be gone, and life will be perfect?!
