The Fortnight Continues

I apologize for being on the road again. I won't be back at my desk until Thursday. So I'll have to focus this Tuesday message on a single brief theme.

But first: In last Friday's message, I forgot to provide the link to the lineamenta (working document) for the upcoming Synod of Bishops on evangelization. It is here: The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith.

Now: It is interesting, I think, to observe how the Fortnight for Freedom is playing out here in the United States. The effort is designed to raise awareness of threats to religious liberty here and to promote prayer and sacrifice for an increase in religious liberty.

First and foremost, this means that interior freedom which comes from grace, and which enables us to more deeply commit ourselves to Catholic faith and life. Second, of course, we pray and work for a just social order which fosters the common good by encouraging, rather than stifling, religion and moral virtue.... [more content for subscribers]
