Four foreign trips on Pope's schedule for 2011

December 16, 2010

Pope Benedict XVI has 4 foreign trips currently on his schedule for 2011: visits to Croatia, Spain, Germany, and Benin.

The Pope will travel to Croatia in June, to Spain in August for World Youth Day, to his native Germany in September, and to Benin in November. His schedule for 2001 also includes several trips inside Italy.

From the start of his pontificate, Benedict XVI has indicated that he has no plans to match the record of his predecessor, John Paul II, who was by far the most traveled Pontiff in history. At the age of 83, Pope Benedict is also careful about taxing his physical stamina, and has made few long overseas trips.
