The hall in which Pope Benedict frequently offers his weekly audiences is now powered by solar energy, Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo, president of the Governatorate of Vatican City State, announced at a recent press conference. Papal audiences are held in the Paul VI auditorium when the weather weighs against an outdoor audience in St. Peter's Square.
