Pakistan: Imam offers reward for death of Christian woman
December 03, 2010
A radical Islamic leader in Pakistan has offered a financial reward for anyone who kills a Christian woman who now faces the death sentence on blasphemy charges.
Maulana Yousef Qureshi, the imam of a mosque in Peshawar, has promised 500,000 rupees ($5,800) to the killer of Asia Bibi. He vowed that his followers would “strongly resist” any bid for clemency for the young mother, in spite of a cabinet minister’s report that she has been unjustly convicted.
