Catholics who support abortion should not receive Communion, says Archbishop Burke

Newly arrived in Rome to take up his new post as head of the Apostolic Signatura, the former Archbishop of St. Louis has repeated his argument that it is a duty, and an act of charity, for priests to withhold the Eucharist from public sinners. The American archbishop told the magazine Radici Christiane that when a bishop warns pro-abortion politicians not to receive the Eucharist, “it is not with the intention of interfering in public life but rather in the spiritual state of the politician or public official who, if Catholic, should follow the divine law in the public sphere as well.”
