Pope Benedict XVI met on September 10 with President Pal Schmitt of Hungary, at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.
In addition to a discussion of Church-state relations in Hungary, and of the importance of strong family life, the conversation also included a discussion of Hungary’s coming 6-month turn at filling the rotating presidency of the European Union.
