1,500 attend consecration of new parish in China

Two bishops, joined by 40 priests and 1,500 faithful, attended the solemn consecration of the Parish of Jesus the Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Baotou on September 1. Both bishops were ordained earlier this year with the approval of the Holy See and the Chinese government. Representatives of the Protestant and Buddhist communities were also in attendance.
Baotou, a city of 2.5 million, is the capital of the northern Chinese province of Inner Mongolia.
