Tennessee priest pleads not guilty to Virginia abuse charges
August 24, 2010
Father William Casey, a 76-year-old priest of the Diocese of Knoxville, has pled not guilty in Virginia to charges of forcible sodomy and indecent liberties with a minor over an incident that allegedly took place during a 1978 trip.
Father William Casey was convicted in North Carolina last month on similar charges and sentenced to two years’ probation.
Warren Tucker alleges that Father William Casey abused him 50 times over a five-year period three decades ago. Because of Tennessee’s statute of limitations, Mr. Tucker is seeking redress in other states, where incidents of abuse allegedly occurred during trips with Father Casey. The priest earlier admitted committing abuse.
