Abortion advocates say Philippines abortion ban causes maternal deaths

August 03, 2010

A New York-based group with ties to Planned Parenthood has denounced the government of the Philippines for maintaining legal restrictions on abortion.

The Center for Reproductive Rights makes that claim that over 560,000 women seek illegal abortions in the Philippines each year, and at least 1,000 die as a result of unsafe procedures. The group’s report does not estimate how many women would die as a result of legal abortions if the procedure were allowed.

Abortion advocates in the US have advanced their cause by claiming that thousands of women were being killed by unsafe illegal abortions. These claims, former abortionist Bernard Nathanson has revealed, were pure inventions of the abortion lobby.

I pray that those who make their living from the deaths of other women's unborn children will open their hearts to the sanctity of human life and immediately seek other work. Money should never be made in this gruesome way. I pray every day that our Lord will have mercy on their souls. No abortion, legal or illegal, should ever take the life of a mother.
