Vietnamese archbishop's return fires new rumors about his replacement

Archbishop Joseph Ngo Quang Kiet of Hanoi has returned earlier than expected from a trip to Rome for medical treatment. Noting the widespread rumors that the archbishop would be transferred out of Hanoi, the AsiaNews service said that Archbishop Kiet's unexpected early return to Hanoi has revived those rumors. Vietnamese public officials have been clamoring for the archbishop's replacement, charging that he has inflamed the Catholic populace against the government.
