French journalist notes 'unprecedented' papal criticism of Irish bishops

Jean-Marie Guenois, religion correspondent for Le Figaro, notes that while the immediate impact of Pope Benedict's letter to the Irish Church is limited, the most noteworthy aspect of the papal statement on that country's sex-abuse crisis is the Pontiff's candid criticism of the way the Irish hierarchy had handled the issue.
