Beijing demands White House cancel meeting with Dalai Lama

The Chinese government has sent a sternly worded message to the White House, demanding that President Obama scrub plans for a meeting with the Dalai Lama on February 18. American honors for the Tibetan spiritual leader-- who is seen as embodying his country's wish for freedom from China's control-- have contributed to tensions between Beijing and Washington.
