Polish Catholic magazine is #1 in country's circulation figures

February 03, 2010

A Catholic weekly, Gosc Niedzielny, tops the latest circulation figures among Poland's periodicals. The Catholic magazine, sponsored by the Katowice archdiocese, bumped a leftist magazine, Polityka, from the topo position it had held for more than 20 years.

The editorial policies of Gosc Niedzielny are illustrated by the fact that last year the editor, Father Marek Gancarczyk, was fined by the European Court of Human Rights for referring to abortion as "killing" in commenting on a controversial Polish case.
