Gee, I thought that the angriest women in the Church were those chain-smoking, middle-aged, divorced directors of religious education in the 1990s who formed a generation of Catholic dropouts. The first time I walked into a meeting of these DREs, I was greeted with the question: "May I help you?" I told the lady that I was looking for the meeting of DREs. She turned around and looked at the other women in the room. She then said: "Imagine that. A gentleman DRE!" Women who "made a difference"?
