Dominican priest convicted of abuse in Maryland

A Maryland court has found Father Aaron Cote guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy in 2001 and 2002 and will sentence him to ten years of probation. The criminal ruling comes two years after the the Eastern Province of the Dominican Friars reached a $1.2-million settlement in the case. Following the victim’s initial allegations in 2003, the province transferred Father Cote to a parish in Rhode Island.
