Australian archbishop, found competent for trial, appears in court

CWN Editor's Note: Archbishop Philip Wilson of Adelaide, Australia, appeared in court on December 6 to answer charges of failure to report sexual abuse. The archbishop’s lawyer had suggested that his client may not be prepared to testify because he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. But a court-ordered examination found him competent. Archbishop Wilson, who is 67, has said that he does not plan to resign because of the illness.
