Uruguay’s president meets with Pontiff

Pope Francis met on December 2 with President Tabaré Ramon Vazquez Rosas of Uruguay.
A brief Vatican statement released after the meeting said that the conversation had centered on the historic ties betwee Uruguay and the Holy See, and the concerns of both Church and state for the welfare of the people. The conversation also touched on international events and humanitarian concerns in Latin America, the Vatican said.
