British religious leaders: vote to stay in EU

May 31, 2016

Thirty-seven British religious leaders, led by the retired Anglican primate, Archbishop Rowan Williams, have called upon citizens to vote to remain in the European Union in the upcoming “Brexit” referendum.

Only one Catholic prelate—retired Bishop Thomas McMahon of Brentwood—signed the statement.

The nation’s Catholic bishops are officially neutral on the referendum, with prominent prelates weighing in on both sides of the issue.
