Italian Catholic paper rebukes Berlusconi on personal conduct
May 05, 2009
Avvenire, the daily newspaper owned by the Italian Catholic bishops' conference, has asked Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to adopt a more "sober and somber" personal lifestyle. The rebuke came after Berlusconi's third wife, Veronica Lario, announced that she is filing for a divorce, complaining about her husband's open flirtations in younger women. Avvenire said that Berlusconi's conduct has been "worrisome," and reflects badly on Italy as a whole.
