Prelate lauds advances against Boko Haram

December 23, 2015

Nigeria’s leading prelate praised the nation’s government for recent victories in its struggle against the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram.

“I think we should congratulate the government because Boko Haram no longer control large territories of our country,” Cardinal John Onaiyekan of Abuja recently told members of the diplomatic community, according to a leading Nigerian newpaper.

“What is left is to find a way of bringing reconciliation and peace in the affected area,” the prelate added, as he called upon the government to do more to assist those who have fled their homes.
