With reservations, Caritas welcomes climate agreement

December 15, 2015

Caritas Internationalis, the Church’s confederation of relief and development agencies, has issued a statement welcoming the agreement that was reached by world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

“For Catholic development organizations working to advocate for a fair and just deal for the world’s poorest people the 1.5 C degree temperature rise threshold is a step in the right direction, which will only help achieving climate justice if the emissions cuts by developed countries are scientifically credible and achieved by mid century [and] there is a mechanism to transparently review progress and increase countries’ commitments,” the organization said in its statement.

“Substantial and predictable funding should also be required so all countries can play their part in reducing emissions to near zero over the coming decades,” Caritas added, as it expressed additional reservations about the agreement’s “inadequate text,” particularly in the areas of climate finance, human rights, and food security.

How in the world can the Pope and Catholic organizations support a man made concept that in essence says God didn't know what he was doing when he created the earth and life around the the balance between Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide? Man and animals need oxygen to live which come from plants, and plants need CO2 which comes from man, animals & fuels. The most recent photos from space show the earth is 15% greener than before; the extra CO2 is enriching earth with more plant food products.

Emissions cuts will cut the living standard of the so-called developed countries and cut off any possibility of economic improvement in other countries since there ain't enough money anywhere to pay for such a huge lack of productivity in both. It will simultaneously do nothing to change Mother Nature's course of action. It is, however, a nice diversion for the world's leaders who are totally incapable of recognizing, much less dealing with, real problems.

And honest and thorough assessment - free of political agendas - of the "climate change" would do much good for the world. As of now, it all looks like a worldwide scam based on political manipulations. Either way: scam or not, the Catholic Church and her organizations should not be so involved in this.

I'm not a smart man, but when taxes go up to pay for this scam, does the Vatican really expect no ill effects to the amount contributed towards Catholic developmental charities? My contributions, small as they are, will certainly be redirected.
