Missionary priest, shot in Bangladesh, recovering from wounds
November 30, 2015
An Italian missionary priest who was shot in Bangladesh earlier this month is recovering, although his wounds are severe, Aid to the Church in Need reports.
Father Piero Parolari, a pastor and physician, was shot as he rode his bicycle to the hospital where he works. He was taken to a hospital in Dhaka, unconscious, for emergency surgery.
Bishop Sebastian Tudu of Dinajpur reports that the surgery was successful, and Father Parolari’s life is no longer in danger. “The attackers targeted his head but missed it, the bullet hit his neck instead and it passed it through. It was a miracle, he was saved by God,” the bishop said.
