November 09, 2015
Pope Francis stumbled and nearly fell on the steps of St. Peter's basilica on Saturday, November 7, prompting a new round of questions about his health.
The Pope broke his fall with his hands, and quickly recovered, showing no signs of injury.
Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, dismissed questions about the incident, pointing out that the Pope had continued his public audience without interruption and stayed to greet visitors, with no indication of ill health.
