Italian foundress beatified

November 02, 2015

Mother Teresa Casini (1864-1937), the foundress of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was beatified in Frascati, Italy, on October 31.

Cardinal Angelo Amato, the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, presided at the outdoor Mass of beatification.

“A contemplative and missionary woman, she made her life an offering of prayer and concrete charity in support of priests,” Pope Francis said the following day following the recitation of the Angelus. “We thank the Lord for her testimony.”
