Biden receives Greek Orthodox human rights award

October 23, 2015

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has conferred its annual human rights award upon Vice President Joe Biden.

“The vice president is someone who fights for freedom in the real sense,” said Archbishop Demetrios, 87.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who holds a primacy of honor among the Eastern Orthodox churches, also paid tribute to Biden in a video message, according to the archdiocese.

“This is maybe the greatest honor I have ever received in my public life,” said Biden.
