Pope sees conference on Fr. Matteo Ricci as opportunity for dialogue with China

In a message to a conference on Father Matteo Ricci, Pope Francis has said that he hopes the example set by the Jesuit missionary will “reaffirm the importance of dialogue between cultures and religions.”
The conference on Father Ricci—who spread the faith in China in the late 16th century—is jointly organized by the University of Macerata, Italy, and the Confucious Institute, an arm of the Chinese education ministry.
