New Jersey priest under investigation for accepting gifts
October 12, 2015
Police in New Jersey are investigating a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, who reportedly accepted more than $250,000 in gifts from wealthy parishioners.
Father Alex Orozco allegedly received cash and other financial gifts-- including a $25,000 donation toward the purchase of a house that he admits he never bought.
A fellow priest says that he warned archdiocesan authorities about Father Orozco's acceptance of gifts in 2012, but the pattern of action continued.
