Bible translated into Mayan language

October 09, 2015

With the approval of the Mexican episcopal conference, the Bible has been translated into Tzotzil, an indigenous Mayan language spoken by 350,000 to 400,000 people, principally in the Mexican state of Chiapas.

Coadjutor Bishop Enrique Díaz Díaz of San Cristóbal de Las Casas celebrated Mass in Tzotzil in the town of Zinacantán on October 7 to mark the occasion.
