Leading Ukrainian Catholic prelate praises nation’s president
September 30, 2015
The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has sent a message to President Petro Poroshenko for his fifitieth birthday.
“I wish you to see, in the outlook of this important date, the marvelous horizons of an amazing future, leading our State toward it with God’s assistance and our common efforts,” said Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk. “Let all-merciful God reward you with His sublime grace and bless[ing] for a further work for welfare of all our people.”
The prelate’s message is similar to a recent message by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow for the Russian prime minister’s fifitieth birthday.
