1st commercial recording in Sistine Chapel

September 24, 2015

On September 25, Deutsche Grammophon will release Cantate Domino [Sing to the Lord], a new recording of Renaissance music sung in the Sistine Chapel by the Sistine Chapel Choir.

“After an intensive period of study and scholarship of the sacred music in the Renaissance and its aesthetic pertinence, we have arrived at the point of making the first commercial recording in this remarkable building,” said Father Massimo Palombella, the choir’s director, according to a BBC report.
