Report: police murder pastor in Laos

September 16, 2015

Police in Luang Prabang Province, Laos, have murdered a Protestant pastor, Singkeaw Wongkongpheng, according to Human Rights Watcher for Lao Religious Freedom.

“Local Christians ruled out robbery as a possible motivation for this ruthless and cold-blooded murder,” the Tennessee-based organization reported. “They believe that his death was the direct result of his Christian faith and ministry of spreading that faith.”

The Southeast Asian nation is Communist and has 6.8 million people; 67% of Laotians are Buddhist, 1% are Protestant, and less than 1% are Catholic.
