Poll: majority of Americans unaware of papal visit

September 07, 2015

A majority of Americans are unaware of the impending visit by Pope Francis, according to a telephone survey of 1,331 Americans conducted in August by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI).

“Most Americans (52%) say they have heard nothing about the Pope’s upcoming visit to the US,” according to PRRI. “Fewer than half of Americans say they have heard a lot (13%) or a little (34%) about it.”

“Catholics are much more likely than Americans overall to have heard about the Pope’s impending visit to the US,” the Institute continued. “Nearly seven in ten Catholics say they have heard a lot (25%) or a little (44%) about it. Thirty-one percent of Catholics say they have heard nothing at all about the Pope’s visit.”

PRRI also surveyed the views of self-described current and former Catholics on abortion, same-sex marriage, climate change, and immigration.

Nor has anything been said in our Parish about the videos exposing Planned Parenthood's gruesome practices and the 'grave sin' of abortion.
