Pope honored for opposition to death penalty
August 12, 2015
Nessuno Tocchi Caino (Hands Off Cain), an Italian organization that opposes capital punishment, has honored Pope Francis with its 2015 “abolitionist of the year” award.
“Hands Off Cain recognizes the Holy Father, the prodigious value of his words, essential and inspiring for anyone wishing to carry out concrete initiatives, always more necessary and urgent, in moving, once and for all, beyond degrading and inhumane punishments, cruel and anachronistic treatments, which condemn any state that practices them to become Cain himself,” the organization said in a statement.
