India may grant citizenship to some fleeing religious persecution

The Indian government will amend 1955 legislation and grant citizenship to undocumented refugees who are fleeing religious persecution in the neighboring Muslim states of Pakistan and Bangladesh, according to The Hindu, one of India’s leading newspapers.

The new legislation has the potential to benefit Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians, and others.
