Court deadline brings a flood of new sex-abuse claims against Minnesota archdiocese

Reporters representing sex-abuse victims in Minnesota reported a flood of last-minute claims as a court deadline for filing such claims approached.
With the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis in bankruptcy proceedings, a court had set August 3 as the last day on which sex-abuse claims could be filed against the archdiocese. Lawyer worked through the weekend to prepare claims and answer questions from would-be litigants.
The total number of claims against the archdiocese was near 400 at the deadline, although an exact count was not yet available.
