Italy's clerical pension fund running chronic deficit

The state-run pension fund for Italian clerics is underfunded, the Italian government has revealed.

A government report said that the fund is “constantly in deficit,” with an aggregate deficit of over €2.2 billion ($2.4 billion).

    This kind of deficit signifies extremely poor management of funds, or complete disregard for the welfare of elderly clergy, or the combination of both.
