Children's hospital given approval to use Vatican helipad
July 17, 2015
The Bambino Gesu hospital has been given permission to use Vatican helipad, under the terms of an agreement announced July 17.
Bambino Gesu, which is located near the Vatican, is the largest pediatric hospital in Rome, and an important center for research on children’s health. The agreement will allow for emergency transportation of patients and supplies.
Marriella Enoc, the hospital’s president, issued a statement thanking the Holy See and the Vatican City governorate for the new arrangement, saying that it will “significantly shorten transport times, contributing in many cases to saving the lives of children.”
Enoc offered special thanks to Domenico Giani, the head of Vatican security, for playing a key role in promoting the agreement.
