Nigerian priest released by kidnappers; diocese says no ransom paid

A Nigerian Catholic priest who was kidnapped on June 8 has been released unharmed, the Fides news service reports.
Father Emmanuel Akingbade was abducted by armed men, who broke into his rectory, and demanded a substantial ransom for his release.
Bishop Felix Ajakaye of Ekiti acknowledged having negotiated with the kidnappers, but said that no ransom was paid.
