Nigerian priest kidnapped; diocese waiting to hear ransom demand

June 11, 2015

Bishop Felix Ajakaye of Ekiti, Nigeria, has told the Fides news service that diocesan officials have not yet heard from kidnappers who abducted a local priest on June 8.

Father Emmanuel Akingbade was seized by armed men who broke into his rectory in Ido-Elkit, in southwestern Nigeria. The kidnappers told the priest that they would leave him free if he paid them €100,000.
