Pope planning residence for the homeless at the Vatican?

June 09, 2015

Pope Francis plans to open a lodging for the homeless at the Vatican, the ANSA news service reports.

The 30-bed residence would be staffed by volunteers. Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the papal almoner, said that the purpose of the initiative was “giving people their dignity.”

During his pontificate, Pope Francis has already opened shower stalls to serve the homeless, and a barber shop for free haircuts.
